Meet our Veterinarians
Caring for animals has always been our top priority. Being a Veterinarian and working in the Veterinary field is not just a job, it is a passion!
Dr. Scott Andersen
Dr. Andersen is the President of our practice and has been a practicing Veterinarian since he graduated from The Ohio State School of Veterinary Medicine in 1982. Upon graduation, he became a partner, along with his childhood mentor Dr. John Hayes at Squire Animal Hospital in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. After managing the practice on his own for a number of years, he decided to sell the practice in 1997 to move onto his next venture, Waugh Chapel Animal Hospital. Today, Dr. Andersen is our resident Surgeon and his specialties include Orthopedic and Soft Tissue surgery as well as Internal Medicine. When he is not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife Nicole, their children and their slew of Rescue dogs and cats which make their family whole.
Dr. Kathleen Kila
Dr. Kathleen Kila is our full-time associate veterinarian who graduated with her Veterinary degree from St. George’s University, completing her clinical year at Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. She was a loyal and efficient veterinary assistant for two years at Waugh Chapel Animal Hospital before pursuing her dream of becoming a veterinarian. She happily rejoined our hospital as a veterinarian following the completion of her DVM degree, specializing in small animal medicine. Dr. Kila grew up in Maryland, moved to Grenada for three years while at St. George’s University, then returned to Maryland after completing her clinical year in Virginia. Dr. Kila has two cats, Stormy and Trident, and a very sweet, older chihuahua named Rocky, who she rescued while living in Virginia. Dr. Kila enjoys the beach, traveling, game nights with friends, and taking care of our lovely community’s furry friends! She is very excited to be with our Waugh Chapel family again in order to serve our community by providing the utmost medical care for every pet who walks into her exam room!
