There are two common types of crystals that form in a cat’s urinary tract: oxalate and struvite. Prescription Diet® Feline x/d™ was designed for the nutritional management of cats with oxalate-related FLUTD. Oxalate crystals are usually formed in response to urine that is burdened by excess amounts of calcium and oxalate, often in an acid urine ph. For the Nutritional Management of Pets with Struvite Related Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD) FLUTD is a condition often associated with the formation of crystals in the urinary tract that can cause numerous painful symptoms for your cat. The two most common types of crystals that form in the cat's urinary tract: struvite and oxalate. Prescription Diet® Feline c/d has been formulated to provide nutritional management of cats with struvite-related FLUTD. Struvite crystals are usually formed in response to urine that is saturated with magnesium, ammonium and phosphorus combined with an alkaline urinary pH.
